What Is Pinkysil?
Pinkysil is a platinum-cure (addition cure) silicone rubber — the same chemistry used by professional mould makers worldwide. It mixes 1:1 by volume, so there’s no need for precise weighing scales. The distinctive pink colour (Part A) and white (Part B) blend to a uniform pink, making it immediately obvious when you’ve mixed it properly.
At Shore A20, Pinkysil is soft and flexible enough to pull cleanly from complex undercuts, while firm enough to hold its shape for clean, repeatable casting. With a 6 minute work time and ~30 minute demould, it’s ideal for small to medium moulds where speed matters.
It’s also certified for skin contact — making it a popular choice for body casting and lifecasting. As with all our products, please read the SDS and TDS on the product page before use.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Pinkysil food safe?
No — Pinkysil is certified for skin contact but is not certified for food contact. If you need a food-safe silicone for chocolate, baking, or food moulds, contact the Barnes team for a recommendation from our food-safe range.
How many pours can I get from one Pinkysil mould?
Typically 50–200+ pours depending on the casting material and mould complexity. Resin pours tend to be harder on moulds than gypsum or wax. Proper release agent use and careful demoulding will significantly extend mould life.
What’s the difference between Shore A20 and harder silicones?
Shore A20 (Pinkysil) is soft and flexible — ideal for moulds with undercuts or fine detail where you need to flex the mould to release the cast. Harder silicones like Vario 40 (Shore A40) are better for larger block moulds or pressure casting where dimensional rigidity is important. As a general rule: the more complex the shape, the softer the silicone you want.
Can I use Pinkysil for skin / body casting?
Yes — Pinkysil is certified skin-safe and is one of our most popular products for body casting (hands, faces, small body parts). For full-body or larger skin-contact applications, consider Pinkysil ODDBOD, which is specifically formulated for extended skin contact.
How do I store unused Pinkysil?
Keep Part A and Part B in their original sealed containers, stored in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Properly stored, Pinkysil has a shelf life of approximately 12 months from manufacture. Avoid cross-contamination between parts — use separate, clean tools for each component.
