Sculpt Nouveau White Bismuth Patina
Find Your Perfect Patina with Sculpt Nouveau’s traditional metal patina range.
Sculpt Nouveau White Bismuth is a traditional hot patina for bronze, brass, and copper, producing a distinctive off-white to light brown finish when applied to heated metal surfaces. It is commonly used by sculptors, metal artists, and architectural finishers seeking a true white or pale base patina on non-ferrous metals.
White Bismuth is applied hot at 180–200°F (82–93°C) and can be diluted up to 50% with distilled water to adjust strength and tonal variation. It is frequently used as a base patina prior to layering additional hot patinas such as Ferric Nitrate/Ferric Chloride, allowing for greater depth, contrast, and colour complexity in the final finish.
When applied correctly, White Bismuth reacts directly with the metal surface, developing a finish that ranges from soft white to pale tan or light brown, depending on metal type, temperature, dilution, and application method.
