Q-Cel 5020

Q-Cel 5020 is a hollow glass micro-balloon which can be mixed with just about any resin. Q-Cel will make the resin lightweight and buoyant, ideal for fishing lure making and can also be used with polyester resin and talc for custom body filler type blends. Caution should be taken when using this material as it can be hazardous to breath.
Q-Cel® Lightweight hollow microspheres offer latitude in manufacturing low density products. These single cell hollow microspheres appear as a white free flowing powder. The spheres are hydrophobic in nature. As filler, the primary function is to reduce density but can enhance other properties as well.
Q-Cel® products have a density approximately one-fifth of most thermoset resins. On equal weight basis, the Q-Cel hollow microspheres occupy five times more volume than an equivalent weight resin. They can displace heavy fillers thus lowering the weight of composites materials. Spheres have the lowest surface area, thus the lowest resin demand. Lower viscosities are common allowing less resin to be used, increase the volume produced, usually resulting in cost savings in many applications.
